Stephane Dillies is a contemporary French painter. His paintings are made out of photographs or photographic combinations of trash cans found on various streets around the world. Dillies paintings are modern landscapes, they are snapshots of our life and reveal the futility of our society.
The artist takes a similar approach to hyperrealistic painters, but he addresses new topics in painting that are rarely addressed elsewhere. His waste paintings represent our society's environment of insatiable consumption. Waste is a popular theme, whether literal (plastic bottles, soda cans, cardboard, and paper) or symbolic (celebrities in alcohol & drugs, low-resolution images from the internet).
Stephane Dillies was born in 1975, in France. His paintings are in the Mercedes-Benz Contemporary Art collection in Lille, France and the Fine Arts Museum in Le Touquet, France. Dillies lives and works in Brussels.
