I noticed this bird because of its astonishingly loud, clear and brash voice, like a trumpet. That’s the only thing that came emulate it perfectly. That’s why I decided to use woodwind instruments to make the crane sculpture. I had purchased an old-fashioned English car horn at a flea market. This was the starting point that everything evolved from. A part from a saxophone was perfect for replicating the crane’s graceful neck. Pay attention to the crane’s beak. This is a thing used in gynaecology – I had used one of these for another sculpture as well. Once all of the parts were united into a whole, a nice crane/trumpeter came out.
Part used:
Body – Rotax Clarion vintage bulb horn, woodwind instrument mouthpiece
Neck – saxophone part
Head – part from a lighting fixture
Beak – gynaecology instrument
Legs – car antennas, door keys
Year: 2020

Artūras Tamašauskas is a "Steampunk" Lithuanian sculptor. His sculptures are exceptional, each unique and distinctive. Tamašauskas describes his sculptures as concrete, clear and at the same time asking them to look for what is invisible to the eye and to think about them. They are like living interior elements.

Tamašauskas is using the most diverse materials for work starting from wares, antiquarians and ending with rubbish that is useless. He is transforming an item that was thrown and useless, giving it the opportunity to exist in a new shape, in a new form, new existence in artistic expression. Steampunk style lovers from Lithuania, Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Sweden, France, Poland, USA and Australia have some of his works in their private collections.

Artūras Tamašauskas was born in 1963, in Lithuania, and he has exhibited his works all across the country.
