Tautvydas Davainis was born in Vilnius 1954. 1974-1980m. studied in Academy of art. Work and live in Vilnius.

Creative work of Tautvydas Davainis attracts at once by abundance of colours and unexpected combinations thereof, by the impression of effects obtained from experimental techniques. These paintings are percolated with expressiveness, most of them can be even called shocking. Nearly each of them hides challenge. A challenge for traditional thinking, challenge for everyday life, monotony and tedium.

Each painting by T. Davainis hides in itself a secret or intrigue that must be cleared out by the spectator. "A painting is a certain energetic cluster. It spreads something that may be called a part of the spirit of the author" – says T. Davainis. Metaphysic objects and phenomena, Oriental philosophy that are of the interest of the author are revealed especially distinctly.

Not every interior is able to pass the examination of the creative work of T. Davainis. These paintings do not become reconciled with the role of a part of an interior, they become accents at once. If the painting catches on the wall, it becomes a certain "centre of attraction" revitalizing the entire space around. The eye of a person not interested in arts will necessarily catch this peace of arts.

During over 35 years of creative practice the author heard not one interesting interpretation of his paintings. There are various attitudes and opinions on creative work of T. Davainis. Only one thing did not occur during the entire period of creative work – there were no indifferent persons to these paintings.

The paintings of the artist are being willingly bought; a lot of them are taken abroad. The works of T. Davainis were acquired by arts collectors from Lithuania, USA, Germany, Poland, Latvia, Russia.

One of more interesting directions of the creative work of T. Davainis is paintings made by composite technique and special technology. From the first sight it is abstract but after change of focus of sight one more hidden three-dimensional view emerges. These may be objects or formed spaces.

One more turn in his creative work is pictures of cinematic illusion. While looking at them the impression is that the objects move in the work of art irrespective to the will of the spectator.

The latest works of Tautvydas are digital art prints on canvas made by computer with the help of fractal creation programmes. Fractals are visualization of mathematical recursive functions surprising with the variety and harmony of colours and compositions.
