Helene Ruiz, a native of New York City, stands as an artist deeply entrenched in the world of drawing and painting. Her early creative journey was shaped by the profound influence of her father, himself an artist, which ignited her passion for the arts at a tender age. Painting is the very essence of Helene's existence, an integral facet of her being. It affords her the unparalleled freedom to express sentiments that often elude words. In October 2008, Helene Ruiz took the initiative to establish the Urban Individualists, a collective comprising a diverse array of visual and performing artists. As the driving force behind this multicultural, multi-media, and international network, Ms. Ruiz demonstrated remarkable dedication in unifying these distinct talents into a harmonious whole. The Urban Individualists firmly believe in the power of collective expression, leveraging their individual styles to make a resounding artistic statement. Under her leadership, Helene curated and organized a myriad of multimedia exhibitions, providing a platform for emerging artists to present their work, bolster their artistic portfolios, and gain the recognition they deserve.

Over the years, Helene's contributions to the arts have garnered well-deserved recognition. In 2007, she was honored with a grant from The Wheeler Foundation, followed by an artists' grant from the Salmagundi Foundation in Brooklyn, New York, in 2009. In 2011, The Disciples of Humanity acknowledged Helene's exceptional work in enriching various communities with culture, education, and art. Her artistic journey has been widely documented in numerous magazines and newspaper articles, attesting to the impact of her creative endeavors.

Presently, Helene Ruiz continues to create captivating art from her apartment studio, where she pours her heart and soul into each stroke of her brush. For Helene, art is not just a passion; it is her personal salvation, a means of survival and coping with life's intricacies. Her works transcend the boundaries of reality, often described as "surreal" but representing her unique "reality."
