Jurij Boutchma was born in 1960. After graduating from the Musical Academy of Kyiv, he worked as a musician in many restaurants and clubs of the city. Since releasing his «Self-Portrait» debut album in 1989, Jurij Boutchma, using electronic musical instruments in his work, has become one of the most popular composers in Ukraine. During this period he wrote music for radio, television, theater and cinema. He actively collaborated with Symphony Orchestra of the State Radio and Television of the Ukrainian. After emigrating to Belgium, where the composer currently lives, he has released 15 CDs of romantic music. As an artist, he is exhibited in many art galleries in Europe. His painting «The Pain of Chernobyl» is in the collection of the National Art Museum of Ukraine. Jurij Boutchma is the author of a number of theatrical plays and literary works.
