Son cadrage est à priori déroutant mais une fois que l'on s'y est fait on commence à détailler la richesse des formes et des couleurs dans ce bouquet expressionniste extrêmement riche.
L'épaisseur des touches donne une troisième dimension intéressante à l'oeuvre, presque tactile, proche d'une sorte de pornographie picturale.
Les morceaux de fruits posés aux pieds du vase rééquilibrent l'oeuvre dans le rappel des couleurs et des formes. Malgré leur équilibre précaire ils sont comme des personnages en mouvement faisant vivre la scène.

Due to its unusual dimensions, its specific composition and the technique employed, this still-life with citrus fruit is an exceptional art-piece. At first sight the actual lay-out may be disconcerting. However, once we get used to it, we realize how amazingly rich in details and colours this expressionistic bouquet is.
The thickly applied touches of paint impart to the artwork a third dimension. This stunning effect is all the more interesting as the amazingly tactile quality of the painting is reflected in this sensuous, almost pornographic approach.
Along with the recurring tones, the citrus fruit wedges depicted at the base of the vase confer a precious balance to the whole composition. Though they seem to be standing in a precarious equilibrium, they almost feature as characters in movement, infusing a great sense of life to the scene.
