Breaking Better Painting by Jawz

Mike Vriesema a.k.a. Jawz is a Dutch graffiti/street artist who found his roots back in the 80's.
Inspired by the movie "Style Wars" and expositions at the Yaki Kornbilt galery in Amsterdam he started to do his thing, first the illegal stuff around his place of birth and later he expanded his streetwork across the rest of the Netherlands..
From the upper North to the farest South you could find his name "Jawz" on the walls, busses, metro's, trains and whatever he could put his spraypaint on..
The biggest influences in that time where "Seen" from New York and "Bando" from Paris and also Dutch artists as Rhyme, Pengo, Shoe, Oase, and Joker where main motivators.
In the beginning of the 90's the illegal part went more to legal as of many orders from shops, entertaiment industry and local community's came on his path.
At the same time painting on canvas went to a more serious issue as more and more people started to get interested in the style he created during the years.
Since 2010 Mike moved to Krakow (Poland) where he is surrounded by an incredible positive and artistic vibe in which he can fully expand his creativity.
