S.Alves

S.ALVES is the artistic name of Sérgio Alves de Oliveira. Born in 1958 Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In 1976, he began his first artistic studies at the School of Fine Arts.  

At the end of the 80s he moved to Salvador-Bahia and there he joined a group of contemporary artists at "Galeria-13  From the meetings at Galeria-13 he began to experiment with other techniques, simplifying the drawing of the human figure and objects, the result was the interpretation of art seen in different dimensions and with different trends between cubism and expressionism  

He is interested in things related to his daily life, and synthetically he tends to create a unique style, in which he looks at geometric compositions, presenting a very evolutionary process, when it concerns to human figure.   

S.ALVES, does not feel that he needs to paint the whole plane of the paint. Actually, he prefers to leave spaces “in-nature” and his worries are all about the main object of the paint. 

The evolution of this practice is a very slow process, requiring courage and the absence of concepts. In terms of aesthetics, he prefers vibrant colors; his painting is enriched by strong contrasts, diluting the objects in chromatic tones.  All the restlessness of the painter seems to be contained in the hallmarks, sometimes straight, sometimes circular, as well as some graphics and faint shadows that darken the colors, some with uniform smoothness.
