Emanuel Daffron Jr

Yes I heard this phrase in Popeye, but it stuck, and I now get it. Being an Artist has been an inner struggle coming from a working class family with not much of a Art "support system". Not that I am resentful, or feel like a victim.
My family has been scattered since I can remember, with hints of endearment, and Love in sparing moments throughout the years. As long as I can remember as well, I have had a very keen eye for the finer details of things, and a great appreciation for the true nature of things, Science, and philosophy have been a great inspiration. Making up my own philosophy is fun too. I think that's what it's all about anyways... Writing has always been a panacea also, even before painting since age 14 I would write expressions of feelings I did not share with anyone else. It seemed to fall hand in hand with painting later on in life.
I started painting "for real" when I was 17 with a set of oil paints my mother gave me that she started to use in her 70's experimental days. With a half painted canvas I painted over then I was hooked. No classes or training in the field. I always worked a regular job as well putting aside my Artist woes to provide some support for myself.
As I grew, and developed I found and learned many things about Art, and the techniques involved. It bacame a huge part of my world, and life.I felt like I had to do it to get a message out to the world? A little while after I fell into a Lull of self doubt, and fears of rejection, and stopped painting for years. All the time feeling another void inside myself. I could blame certain people for exasperating this frame of thought, but really it is my doing, and process of pain I needed to deal with, and learn from!
Now I am working to make a living when I can on the side painting, and making signs for business's, and painting murals. I do still have to work a "real" job being a single Dad now of an amazing 15 year old boy!
