Mediterranean Sea is one of the most beautiful seas in the world.
The Mediterranean Sea is a semi-closed marine basin. It has little input from pluvial waters and a high rate of evaporation. Its currents are not strong and are deep. The Mediterranean is calm during the summer months, with storms occurring more frequently around the equinoxes. The water is relatively warm throughout the year, with high temperature and low salinity. Many countries and regions of the Mediterranean rely on tourism for a large portion of their economies.
The ancient people who inhabited the area migrated to the area for a variety of reasons. Using the sea as a superhighway, they were able to trade with each other and spread their culture. The region was home to several ancient civilizations, including the Greeks, Phoenicians, and Romans. During the ancient times, the Mediterranean Sea served as a major trade route and a cultural exchange area.
The Mediterranean Sea is divided into two basins, the Western Basin and Eastern Basin. The western portion stretches from the Cape of Trafalgar in Spain to Cape Spartel in Africa. The eastern basin covers the coasts of Syria and Palestine. A small amount of water from the Black Sea enters the Mediterranean via the Bosporus and Dardanelles. The Mediterranean Sea has several strategic geopolitical characteristics and is a focal point for many conflicts.
