Claudio Benghi was born in Castel Maggiore (Bologna) on October 23, 1947. He obtains a diploma in technical studies and cultivates his passion for art in alternative to his job. He is a self-taught person in art and for years paints only in water-colour, in search of his personal expressivity which the immediacy of the technique seemed to give.
In 1985 he is among the founders of an artistic group, namely La Matita which sensitive to the ethic and spiritual values of the community starts to operate on its territory. Shiele, Groz. Klee, Rousseau and Chagall though very different are among his first inspirers. Later his artistic meeting with Gustavo Foppiani, reveals an expressive world which he will no longer abandon. Curiosity, immagination, sensitivity and the desire to communicate emotions lead him to mixed techniques dose to his way of feeling.
Hence the pictorial surface becomes a painting, on which the material base acts as a go between for small stories, secrets, thoughts and invented dreams.
