Original Artwork refers to any work that is considered authentic and not a copy or imitation of the original works of an artist. Original artwork can be any type of painting, sculpture, performance, or other media. There are many types of original media. Mixed media includes oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings. For workshop paintings that bear evidence of master craftsmanship, this attribution must be further qualified. While they may be less valuable for different reasons, reproductions and copies have had a tremendous impact on our experience. They reach a greater audience than originals and act as a tonic against commodification. Original Artwork could also refer to the first work, which is always preceding all others. It could also refer to a prototype or a model from which other works can be made. Each work bears great similarities to the original.

My name is Veronik

Determined at 48 to live enriching experiences, I moved to French Guiana in 2014.

We fell in love with this overseas region, where different populations coexist in harmony: Amerindians, black maroons from the Maroni River, Brazilians, Surinamese, expatriates from Europe, Chinese and refugees from Laos that we call Hmongs, Haitians, Creoles, and I forget...

I also fell in love with these Amazonian landscapes, these animals, these flowers and plants, impressive in size and colour, which I immortalize in photographs.

This shooting work serves as a basis for painting: hummingbirds, turtles, frogs and dendrobates, sloths, butterfly-morphos, hibiscus, Native American symbols, dream catchers that I also make.

A special mention for the Amerindian "house skies" that I like to reproduce on canvas or paper, with freedom: the roots of the cheese tree, which together form the buttress, are detailed in slices, painted with natural pigments from of the forest, and covered with symbolic drawings representing protections against insects, animals etc, also representing various symbols such as strength, wisdom, knowledge, etc... This "box sky" once completed is attached to the ceiling of the carbet or hut in order to protect the people who are there, as much as the family living there.

I am happy to share with you through my paintings my passion for this region, Guyana, in the middle of the Amazon.
