Former soldier, today famous Russian sculptor, Oleg RAÏKIS creates chess sets for many art galleries, in particular for the modern art gallery of Cees HOGENDOORN in Amsterdam and the famous Harrods store in London . In France, his works are distributed by the Russian art gallery “Art de Russie”. A large part of his works is in the private collections of businessmen, politicians, and other celebrities, such as Mikhaïl GORBATCHEV or Garry KASPAROV.

Classical Staunton, gods of Olympus or Russian ballet, Oleg RAÏKIS chooses very diverse and original subjects for his games. In addition to his own designs, he makes copies and replicas of old chess, but also creates chess sets based on the ideas and imagination of his customers.

“The figures are expressive and seem to be alive and, despite their small size, they exude incredible energy,” says Cees Hogendoorn, Russian modern art collector, owner of an art gallery in Amsterdam.
