Born in Leipzig, I have lived in Berlin since 1949. I enjoyed painting as a child, but I have only been seriously involved in painting since 1982, initially as an autodidact.
In the years 1984 - 1994 I occasionally had lessons with Zoro Mettini (Berlin) and Herbert Lange ( Kleinmachnow), took part in workshops with Heinz Hornig in Berlin and in seminars at the Schmincke company with Ulrich Lassek in Borken, as well as a summer seminar at the European Academy of Fine Arts in Trier.
From 1994 to 2017 I took a break from painting for work reasons and only resumed artistic work in 2018.
