My name is Alex Herrera. Born in 1972, I'm a self-taught artist from New Mexico. My background in education includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Care Administration, and currently an MBA in Marketing student. I've been interested in art and painting as far back as I can remember. I believe art is an expression of self. Expressing thoughts, and feelings through gestural abstract paintings is where I find my passion. When I'm painting, I'm free. My completed paintings are a reflection of my thoughts. Without planning, I use materials that are readily available. The most common include paint lids, cups, syringes, tubes, wood, sponges and hands. My goals as an artist are to heal, and continue inspiration throughout the art community.
