Alter Ego Lamps are plexiglass sculptures on a wood basement with led light included. Alter Ego Figure is hand engraved. Total dimension including basement are 19 cm x 14,5 cm x 5,5 cm. They all have artist sign and a progressive number. Series of 200.

"Sono stato innamorato dei famosi mattoncini fin da quando ero piccolo ed oggi mi rendo conto di quanto siano immortali. La loro bellezza è anche il fatto che riescano a rendere immortali anche gli altri giocattoli degli anni ‘80. È questa l’intenzione del mio lavoro. Questo è lo stimolo che mi ha portato a creare i miei “Alter Ego” con i giocattoli degli anni ‘80. Vorrei poter far fare a tutti un salto indietro nel tempo e vedere i nostri vecchi giochi in modo diverso, quasi immortale. Da questo punto di partenza ho anche portato avanti nuove sperimentazioni con nuove inclusioni.”

Alessandro Piano, born in 1979 in the historic city of Genoa, Italy, reflects a profound love for his hometown's rich past, translating it into a deep appreciation for traditions. Over the years, this passion has evolved into a dedicated effort to collect remnants of the past, shedding light on historical treasures that contribute to a better understanding of the present.

Piano's artistic journey takes a nostalgic turn as he celebrates and immortalizes the games of 1980s children. Recognizing these games as a small but potent part of the past, he believes they possess the unique ability to transport individuals back to their cherished childhoods—an era he considers one of the most beautiful periods of all time. The artist's collection of these games serves a dual purpose: not only do they evoke personal memories, but they also fulfill the desire to obtain something long yearned for since childhood.

The depth of Alessandro's research reached new heights with the birth of his daughter, inspiring him to share the source of his childhood happiness with her. The Game Research project took on a new dimension as he sought to re-elaborate these games, transforming them into iconic and unique pieces. Alessandro aims to engage those born around the 70s in a nostalgic journey while introducing a new generation to a world of forgotten toys. The influence of Fernandez Arman and Piero Gilardi is evident, along with a nod to Fluxus Art, with the versatile discovery of resin completing the artistic circle.

One notable creation in Alessandro's portfolio is the "Alter Ego" sculpture, initiated in April 2019. Intending to produce a fixed number of approximately 100 unique pieces per series, each sculpture is a testament to the artist's dedication to preserving the essence of childhood in art. In addition to these sculptures, Alessandro has expanded his artistic repertoire to include the AlterEgoPrint on PET, using his best AlterEgoSculptures as subjects.

Alessandro's artistic endeavors also extend to the creation of "Alter Ego Oscar," resin sculptures with limited series of 200. Through these works, Alessandro Piano not only captures the essence of the past but also endeavors to create a bridge between generations, inviting individuals to rediscover and appreciate the timeless joy encapsulated in childhood games and memories.
