As a linguist and avid reader, I have always been interested in idioms and wordplay. I love to look for coincidences and differences in established expressions, for example, in Russian and English. Being an artist, I am interested in colors, hues, shapes and their combinations. My experimental project is to find English idioms related to color and transfer them to the canvas. Not all idioms have functional equivalents in other languages, but that's what attracts me. The composition in this case is complicated by additional semantic associations when translated into another language. The project consists of a series of paintings (one series of 3-4 paintings is dedicated to one color). In each series, there is one color that dominates, but not in its pure form. One series assumes a uniform style, but within the project it can range from minimalism to expressionism.

After graduating from Moscow State Stroganov Academy of Industrial and Applied Arts Alexandra has had contradictory experience in searching her personal style and using a wide range of techniques and media in her exploration of artistic expression.

In many ways, Alexandra’s views and preferences in style were influenced by the meeting and studies with Natalya Karpinskaya, an abstract artist, art historian and teacher of modern art and painting from New York.

Alexandra has been a regular participant at regional and international exhibitions (a 1st prize winner of the Tretyakov Gallery on-line still-life competition, January 2013) and contests. Her artworks are in private collections of Russia, Austria, Germany, Switzerland and China.
