« Dès mon plus jeune âge, je me suis passionné pour la photographie. Accompagné par mon grand-père et son appareil photo à soufflet Lumière objectif Anastigmat, depuis la traverse du Prieur, dans le quartier Saint-Louis, où j’habitais, jusqu’à la plage des Catalans, dans le Vieux-Port, à la Joliette, je photographie.
J’ai débuté professionnellement dans la photo en 1971 : laborantin, opérateur tireur, photographe de mariage. Quatre ans plus tard, j’utilise aussi la photo comme support éducatif auprès de jeunes en difficulté. Éducateur spécialisé, je n’ai de cesse de travailler mes photographies, affichées, de 2008 à 2013, lors de plusieurs expositions personnelles ou en groupe, puis dans le portfolio Impressions éphémères ».
« Quoi de plus éphémère qu’un reflet ? Et pourtant, durant un bref instant, la réalité est représentée sur une surface réfléchissante. Mon but, dans cette série, est de fixer cet instant, de piéger la lumière.
D’abord par une représentation facilement identifiable, puis, me rapprochant de l’image reflétée, je dégage des abstractions en privilégiant le graphisme, et, enfin, donne à voir des formes en train de naître tout en les mettant en scène.
Une façon de refléter la réalité et d’inscrire dans la durée ce qui n’a vocation qu’à être éphémère.
Cette série est désormais regroupée sous le titre Impressions éphémères et regroupe à ce jour soixante et onze photographies. »
Philippe Lesage, artist photographer, nurtured his passion for photography from a very young age, guided by his grandfather and his “Lumière” bellows camera. From the Traverse du Prieur in the Saint-Louis district to the Plage des Catalans, via the old port and La Joliette, he explores Marseille through his lens.
In 1971, Philippe Lesage made his professional debut in the world of photography as a laboratory assistant, printer operator and wedding photographer. In 1975, he decided to direct his career towards special education while continuing to cultivate his passion for photography, using this art as an educational tool for young people in difficulty.
After a break of a few years, Philippe Lesage returned to photography in 1998, reconnecting with his love for this visual art. From 2008 to 2013, he participated in several personal and group exhibitions, then distinguished himself with his portfolio entitled “Impressions Ephémères”.
His talent was recognized internationally when his photography was pre-selected in the HIPA 2013 international photography competition in Dubai. In 2014, he became a finalist in the Grand Prix International de Photographie de Saint-Tropez and exhibited his works on the Place des Lices in Saint-Tropez in May of the same year. He continues his exhibitions at “Toucouleurs” in Nîmes in July and August, as well as in Aigues-Mortes in August and October 2014.
