A propos des glacis
« Glacis que je nommerais « jus transparents » aussi appelés VELATURA (léger voile). Ils ouvrent un passage à la lumière, laissent voir la couleur qui se trouve dessous, tout en lui apportant une coloration. Les glacis ne servent pas à peindre car pauvres en pigments.
Ils unissent et accordent les tons en leur donnant une teinte générale et prêtent de la sympathie aux couleurs les plus antipathiques.
C’est par le choix de ces couleurs, et par la manière de glacer, qu’on parvient à tenir dans l’obscurité les parties ombrées.
Les couleurs sombres ni moelleuses ni transparentes ne peuvent imiter une ombre réelle.
La lumière n’en étant point absorbée se réfléchit sur leurs superficies et les représente en même temps obscures et éclairées alors que les couleurs transparentes laissent passer les rayons lumineux et conservent une superficie réellement obscure.
