Painting Pastel

Pastel is an instrument widely used in plastic arts. Taking the form of a colored plastic stick, it is composed of pigments, a filler (chalk or plaster) and a binder (gum arabic, oil, wax). We mainly distinguish fatty pastels (oil or wax), dry pastels, whether soft or hard. Invented in Europe at the end of the 15th century, this tool was very quickly used by great portrait painters of French royalty, such as Charles Le Brun, Rosalba Carriera, Jean Siméon Chardin or Maurice Quentin de La Tour, who will be considered the "Prince of pastellists", thanks to a method of fixation of which only he knew the secret.

Pastel

Technic Painting

Nathalie Pouillault Boyaval, born in 1965 in Lille,

From the age of 12, I took painting lessons with Yves Decroix (Tourcoing), then later with Georges Briata (Marseille) and more recently with Eric Bari (official painter of the navy) and Florent Maussion (official painter of the armed forces ).

In 1982, I opted for artistic studies and I entered the Applied Arts of Roubaix. After a BT in Architectural Volumes, I continued my studies this time focusing on fashion and Textile: BTS Industrial Fashion Design in 1987 and BTS Art and Textile printing in 1989.

After a professional career as a Stylist, Designer and Model maker at Phildar, Nydel and La Redoute, I joined Vendée in 1994 with my husband and since then, 3 girls have joined the family.
But I miss painting and I decide to take the brushes again. I participate in painting competitions where I obtain several recognitions, in particular at: Grasla, Montaigu (Printemps du live), Saint Georges de Montaigu, La Garnache: Public Prize. La Chabotterie: 3rd and 2nd Prize for acrylic, Saint Symphorien: Prize 1st Prize for oil and acrylic. Chauray: Nargale Prize, Rochesservière: 1st prize in oil and achylic, Magné: prize in oil and acrylic ...
So I decided to persevere in this direction ...
Registered with the Maison des Artistes, my passion has become my job.

Nature, imbibing it, capturing it on my canvas fascinates me. But the pleasure of painting in the calm of my studio also excites me.
In my new series of paintings "Traces", I paint in acrylic on canvas supports marouflaged with various papers and rewarmed with a knife, which gives my pictorial touch more freedom. Messages and a return to sketches are inscribed in the markers, building and giving meaning to my compositions. Lights spring up in pastels and colored bubbles symbolize happiness and the dis-fraction of light: in search of serenity and a certain spirituality.

Along with my activity as a Painter, I give painting and drawing lessons in several associations.
