This painting does not show a face, a name, or a story — and yet, it tells everything. A woman stands not in action, but in readiness. Her gaze, her posture, her stillness speak of expectation. She listens — not outwardly, but inwardly — to herself, to the silence that surrounds a soul just before it opens.
Inspired by real feelings, not fantasy, this piece is part of the “Near the Pond” series — a cycle of artworks devoted to the slow unfolding of connection. It’s not about love at first sight, but love through observation, silence, doubt, trust. In this scene, a female figure pauses, completely present, not to seduce or impress, but to meet — openly, vulnerably.
The tones are subtle, the composition gentle — echoing the inner state it reflects. It is not loud, but it lingers. This work was born from memory, solitude, and the quiet tension of waiting without fear.

Dmytro Dotsenko is a Ukrainian artist working in figurative painting, drawing, and multidisciplinary practices.
Born in 1993 in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine. He received his formal education at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv, where he completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Fine Arts.
Dmytro has been engaged in art since early childhood. His artistic language combines academic visuality with contemporary themes: human transformation, inner path, the state of uncertainty, identity in the digital age, the impact of technology, war, and memory. His works reflect both personal and collective experiences, blending symbolic strength with emotional depth and conceptual insight. In his recent practice, he explores a stylized realism enriched with elements of monumentality and visual codes from digital environments.
Over the past five years, he has held six solo exhibitions and participated in more than twenty group projects in Ukraine and abroad. He was a resident at the international art program Künstlerhaus Meinersen (Germany, 2023–2024) and took part in the interdisciplinary project "Zinzhyr: Chains of Memory" supported by the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation (2023).
His works are held in private collections in Ukraine, Germany, Portugal, and the United States.
