Maria Clara was born and raised in Medellin, Colombia. After 15 years of a successful career in marketing, Maria Clara decided to dedicate her life to her children; the first great change in her life. The second great change occurred when she realized her true vocation, art. Her calling brought her to investigate the molding of clay on the pottery wheel. This world captured her and opened a new whole horizon in painting. At this time, the opportunity to learn more about art and its techniques began with painting courses at the National University of Colombia, and then at the academy of Libe de Zulategui y Mejia, perhaps the most prestigious painting school in Medellin. Maria Clara was accepted at this academy because of her innate talent for her creative color combinations, the main subject of her work, and the means of which her creative concept and ideas are transmitted. The figure is in the background but it takes all its strength in the oil, colors and shades. Maria Clara aims to express and explore the moments of real life, captured in suggestions of her use of tonalities that invite the observer to interpret the work in a free and audacious way.
