Daniel Verstraete

Daniel VERSTRAETE, sculpteur français ( né en 1945) est un artiste autodidacte, qui pratique la sculpture en taille directe exclusivement sur des blocs de marbre de l’Ile de Paros. Il crée des formes à la limite entre l’abstraction et le figuratif qui composent un étrange bestiaire imaginaire puissant et tire de certains de ces blocs de marbre des bronzes à la cire perdue dont les patines exaltent le travail de la matière. Il a participé à de très nombreuses expositions de sculptures en France, Luxembourg, Grèce et Monaco et ses œuvres sont présentes dans des collections privées en France, Espagne, Luxembourg, Suisse et Grèce. Il est président d'un collectif d’artistes Français, « l'Atelier du Lundi », créé à Grasse il y a près de 40 ans. Daniel VERSTRAETE, French sculptor, ( born 1945) is a self-taught artist who practices direct carving exclusively on marble blocks of the island of Paros. He creates shapes at the limit between abstract and figurative, that make up a strange imaginary powerful bestiary and draws bronzes from some of these marble blocks whose patinas exalt the work of the material. He has participated in many art and sculptures exhibitions since 2010 in France, Luxemburg, Greece and Monaco and some of them are in private collections in France, Spain, Luxemburg, Swiss and Greece and he is president of a group of French painters, "L'Atelier du Lundi", created in Grasse almost 40 years ago.
