It is a process of printing on art paper using very high-quality pigment inks and printed in very high definition. Its level of conservation is exceptional (more than 100 years), its quality, depth, and richness of nuances exceeds the classic photo print on Argentic paper.
Glossy finish
Apart from its exceptional thickness, the fiber paper is composed of an alpha-cellulose base without acid and it is covered with barium sulphate, and a microporous layer absorption enhancing pigments during printing. A pure white color, non-yellowing to light, this paper is especially designed for resistance and aging. It is used by major museums worldwide as it offers excellent resolution, rendering deep and dense colors.

The print measures 15 x 20 cm. Each print is signed, stamped and numbered at the bottom of the print area.
Each print is made by hand on a polymetaal intaglio engraving press.

Clément Scarpi is a contemporary artist based in France, recognized for his unique ability to transform ordinary objects into transcendent realities. Drawing inspiration from the realms of alchemy, he sublimates everyday items, revealing their inherent poetry and beauty. A graduate of the École Supérieure des Arts de Saint-Luc in Brussels, Scarpi employs a diverse range of materials and techniques, including drawing, engraving, sculpture, painting, and photography, to create works that bridge various realms—human, animal, mineral, and vegetable.
Currently, Scarpi finds inspiration in old photo albums, exploring the stories behind anonymous and forgotten portraits. He is captivated by the faces, expressions, and gazes captured in these images, which, despite no longer belonging to this world, possess a haunting allure that draws his attention. His artistic practice transforms seemingly mundane elements—a humble pebble, for instance—into profound representations, such as a head or face that evokes a unique character. A familiar bird, perched on the body of a schoolboy, is imbued with new tenderness and aura through his creative process.
Scarpi’s work is characterized by a delicate interplay between different kingdoms of existence, as he skillfully blends materials and techniques to evoke a sense of connection and continuity. The experience of engaging with yellowed photographs, with their dog-eared corners, leads him into a state of self-forgetfulness, where the act of painting becomes a vehicle for exploring memory and time. Each brushstroke, each layer of paint, testifies to the passage of time and the reminiscences they embody.
His transition from painting to engraving reflects a more conscious effort to sublimate the depth of blacks, capturing the essence of this motionless journey. Through his artistry, Clément Scarpi continues to explore the intersection of memory, identity, and the ephemeral nature of existence, inviting viewers to engage with the transcendent qualities of his work.
