Kevin Fernandez is a contemporary French sculptor. Fernandez’s body of work explores the relationship between three-dimensional sacred geometry and two-dimensional string art as rendered through a minimalist aesthetic. Polyhedra is the playground in which he explores a novel approach to boundary dissolution, visualizing additional dimensions through a delicate arrangement of complementary or contrasting linear patterns.

The artist uses mathematical analysis to study Polyhedra and then recreates their shapes using skilled and precise machining of diverse wood species. All of the components are produced with meticulous attention to detail. One by one, the strings are threaded through a needle and fastened. The time and effort put into this technique ensures that any joinery and knots are hidden in the final assembly. Ultraviolet reactive strings can be used to create a unique ambience when used in conjunction with a black light.
