In her work Visual Methodologies - the introduction to the Interpretation of Visual Materials, the British philosopher Gillian Rose said: “the connection between seeing and true knowing is broken". Similarly the perception of visual stimuli, their interpretation and our emotional response to them runs like a common thread through my art. Inspired by this division of the physical object and its spiritual perception this diptych pictures a semi - abstract interpretation of Rose's words and serves as an entry point for my work on such topics as social media, perception and mental health.

Alina Karmadanova is a Russian artist born in Sayansk. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Architecture and Design. From 2018 to 2023 she lived and was creating in Shanghai, China, this experience enriched her artistic practice and vision. At the moment she is studying MA Illustration in Falmouth university and getting a studio practice certificate from Canadian NBCCD in Fredericton.

Alina's art revolves around capturing the essence of the female experience and exploring the position of women in contemporary society. She analyses how modern societal norms, social media, and technology intersect with the human psyche and emotions and influence lives of modern women.
