Alexandra – AVA – AlexA Visual Artist is a self-taught painter who lives and works in Lisbon, Portugal, with a style that mixes abstract and figurative art, also venturing into illustration. Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, her compositions are deeply influenced by people, the world’s countless color palettes and diverse cultures.
However, his greatest source of inspiration comes from the private world of his only daughter, Mariana, diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Her personal style conveys hope, joy, female empowerment, concerns about the future of the planet, strong convictions, protest, reflection and a deep love for art, which she says serves as her best therapy.
Alexandra enjoys exploring new techniques, including collage and the use of materials and symbols that reference both Brazil, her country of origin, and Portugal, her father’s homeland. Her technique is marked by strong brushstrokes, a profusion of colors and the occasional use of a spatula, sometimes incorporating gold in generous layers. Big faces and eyes are recurring themes in her works.
Her work reflects the intersection of diverse media, techniques and ideas, paving the way for new trends and possibilities. She enjoys Pop Art, Op Art, Street Art and the Expressionist movement, and recently she has also explored creative interaction with AI.
