Art image bankAga Werner is a contemporary draughtsman, painter, and engraver of Polish origin, currently residing and working in Paris, where her workshop is located in the 13th arrondissement. She specializes in various artistic techniques, including metal engraving, oil painting, and drawing, with a focus on subjects such as architecture, the human form, and abstraction.
Werner employs a range of metal engraving techniques, including etching, aquatint, sugar aquatint, and photopolymer plates. Her work features large-format engravings on zinc or copper plates, producing vibrant color prints. Among her diverse methods, she has a particular affinity for sugar aquatint, which allows her to achieve effects reminiscent of painting. Each engraving is informed by her original drawings or created on-site during live model workshops, emphasizing her commitment to capturing the essence of her subjects.
In addition to her work in engraving and painting, Aga Werner has recently developed a passion for object design, creating furniture and fabric projects. This exploration of design reflects her versatile artistic vision and her desire to integrate her artistic practice into everyday life. Through her multifaceted approach, Werner continues to push the boundaries of contemporary art while celebrating the interplay between form, color, and texture.
