"I would rather spend one night with Beauty than the rest of my life chained to one of its alternatives."
AJ Barnes (US, 1962) graduated with a Master of Arts degree from Ohio University in 1989, after completing art training at Wayne State University in 1985.
A former editorial photographer, he did much of his personal work with Polaroid instant film.
With the demise of the Polaroid company in 2004, he began working with the wet collodion process, an ancient glass plate photographic process invented in 1851.
These nude art prints are made from high resolution scans of the original collodion plates.
AJ Barnes' artistic work explores the beauty and intimacy of the human body through this ancient photographic process. His black and white prints feature a timeless aesthetic, capturing the unique texture and nuances of wet collodion. Each image offers a rich visual experience, evoking the fragility and sensuality of the subject photographed.
