My Artistic Journey
I love the medium Watercolor on Silk. It suits my temperament. On seeing the Works of Maestro Maniklal Banerjee in print Ifelt that this is the medium on which I should work. After much effort I had an Audience with the Maestro and later as a pupil I took extensive training from him.The technique of this medium is totally different from the technique of China, Japan and other eastern countries, and is totally a invention of Maestro Banerjee. I have learnt most of the technique from him and added a few myself. I like painting hills and mountains and its common folk. I also love painting flower and bird paintings like the artists of China but in my way.Sometimes I go for social-theme to register my protest and use past heritage with a contemporary twist. My little grand-daughter's love for Sea influenced me also and I am now working on that.I have experimented with other medium also and sometime I feel the urge to work on other medium. In this way works in mixed-media,collage,acrylic on silk, watercolor on nepalese paper etc came into being.
