Nelly Sanchez is al bijna vijftien jaar visueel collagist. Haar keuze voor deze kunstvorm, die ten onrechte als “armoedig” wordt omschreven, komt voort uit haar ontdekking, lang geleden, van de surrealisten en hun werk.
Ze speelt met de associaties van ideeën, symbolen en kleuren die haar gedicteerd worden door een speels en speels onderbewustzijn.
