Hirjoi Dorothea paintings
Travelling is one of the most beautiful and complex theme of the cultural horizon. There exist travels in space and travels in time. There are imaginary travels, spiritual travels, interior travels, travels in dreams and dreamlike travels, travels in an other dimension, travels of the soul after death and shamanistic travels. However the most comfortable travel for us and the one which can charm us most is called reverie…
Dorothea Harjoi entered such a realm. Her travels which she proposes to us in this exhibition, created a sort of journal in images. There are travels which have two overlapping senses, senses which are overlapping but in the same time different: the real travel ( the things she saw ) which belongs to memory and the imaginary travel ( the possible ) which belongs to desire. Their combination engenders the reverie – the beauty she has seen becomes one with the beauty she has dreamed about. As a peculiarity, the images she uses in her paintings are travels in a world full of nebulosities. The travel in itself, being a reverie is a nebula, I mean it is a state of mind, a way of feeling. It appears when the frame of things evaporates, when things become volatile, when the chromatic contents migrate, interfere, mingle. Then the travel should become presentation and it presents itself vaguely, it slightly becomes approximative image. The presentation underlines most of all the light of the soul.
The painting presented here is inspired by Paul Klee’s works of art. Here also it finds its own form. Paul Klee’s lesson remains valid first because he taught her to pass from rational to emotional, from thought to state of mind, from idea to sentiment, from mind to soul, from intellect to sentiment. This passage provokes the relativisation of the geometry of things, the relativisation of landscape, the relativisation of the things she saw opening the way to chromatic constellations.
Here one can identify the mechanism that works: anything can be considered a travel, any travel can be remembered as an image, any image can be used as a reverie, the reverie being the existence of any place, any moment, any thing. The images are travels, places, topoi, views from space. They always appear crossed by roads, divided by roads, approximative roads, foggy roads. They are crossings, ways to one’s inner self; they are inner spaces. They are warm, solar, inner travels, made by vague forms and ethereal, chromatic harmonies. In these inner landscapes crossed from the outside there always appears the way of the landscape from sight to senses, from eye to heart, from the certainty of the colour as a presence to the suggestion of the chromatic harmonies reminding us of the paradise.
In exchange, we find the abstract hosted by the figurative and the figurative hosted still by the abstract.
The groups of works ordered according to their theme contain landscapes with hills, picturesque hills, aerial perspectives, picturesque roads. They contain landscapes with sun and moon as an intermediary between the real and the abstract form…There follow then works presenting the ways, the roads…In these cases the most important role is given to colour because of an equal attention divided between harmony and contrast. There follow afterwards works dedicated to fields…However all these works tell the same thing: we are dealing with a running across the landscape which is identical with a poetic of the landscape, a poetic which appeared on the way from the sensed landscape to the experienced one, from the external view to the internal one. There is presented the running across the landscape from the way in which it is seen to the way in which it is felt, from sight to state, from eye to soul. It is clear that this journey from the landscape sight to the landscape state, from the world to the self leads each time to the bright side of the world and of the soul, to their sunny, dewy part.

Expresing human beeing self conciousness the artist put the reality into a continous proces of evaluation and reevaluation.Arts doesn,t meen for him only reflection but more as the reflection the obiective construction and action are very important.The exibition of Hirjoi Dorotheea maid me think on this .Full of sincerity she propose her conclusions in abording a new visual univers.The light has a majeur importance in her paintings.In discovering her painting we notice the sensibilty of colours togheter with the force of composition.She built her visual univers by her feelings .
