As viewers gaze on these unique works of art, they are transported to a realm where water reigns supreme, captivating their senses and sparking their imagination. The transformative journey from bubble to droplet is a testament that water presents. Through a combination of different applications of artistic techniques from flowing ink to iridescent paint- the experiment with colour, texture and shape bring to life the intricate patterns and mesmerizing movements of water as it drops or flows.
Each piece in this collection tells a story of the nature of this precious element, the fluidity of water allows it to take different forms and shapes whether it is a delicate ripple, crashing waves, or spurts from a tap or fountain. I hope you will enjoy and appreciate the magic of our precious resource. This series is ongoing . Be captivated by the wonderful decorative presentations . This is a series inspired by various trips to Australia and the result of several residencies in Italy. I particularly focused on the mini-world of rock pools which fascinate me.
Why am I so obsessed with rockpools? When you look at it in another perspective, it seems like there is another micro world in play here. It is a special place where I appreciate the precious moments of connection with the origins of life and nature. The marine life in rockpools go through challenges just like we do, however, their conditions are more dangerous and unstable. The pushing, shoving, thrashing from the tidal waves, then the exposure to varying temperatures, not forgetting the hazardous weather patterns: wind, rain and sun.
There is also beauty of colour, form and pattern: the rock striations, the cracks and crevices filled in with an array of sea shells, barnacles and other micro organisms. I am mesmerized by the transient quality of this world.

Anything to do with nature, I am passionate about, especially the creatures who live alongside us and play a role in our everyday lives. What would we do without the sound of bird song in the morning or to hear the familiar noises that wake us, even the crows make re-assuring cries. any numerous wild or domesticated bird that spends much of its life on or near water attract our attention when they waddle and quack, in fact their endearing characteristics and gentle disposition , like to see you and make themselves known to you. Seeing a duck can be a sign to lighten up. The duck is a reminder of all us of the power for laughter to heal. In fact, I remember as a child after a dispute with my mum, the quack and a wail from a geese, had made us laugh.
If you look at water birds who also possess the gift of flight, the duck symbolises =, in many different cultures, our ability to connect with our subconscious (water) with the metaphysical world (air) for greater awareness and wisdom. Thus, the duck is a metaphor for our ability to tap into the positive powers in the universe, which can help us to better tune into opportunities that improve our lives.

I adore wild places which are protected to allow the natural world take it course as it always finds its own balance and in consequence brings harmony and peace to all wildlife living there. Sometimes it can quite astonishing to discover fascinating subjects to paint in such sanctuaries. The clump of old trees against a hill, a field of poppies, the fleeting light that dances on a mountain top, the changes of colour and mood that the different seasons bring. These are place to find solace and peace. It is very meditative to paint these locations., many of which I have had first hand experience and I love to transcribe my mood and emotion to each piece.

Like many people feel, the sea is where we love to be for our holidays; The spirit of the sea encapsulates those happy moments from childhood, the ambience of the surroundings, the freedom of movement, the sounds of pleasurable voices of the swimmers, the gulls, the sails, the waves, the arise of sunset, are all the enjoyable things we love to experience.
This collection both old new and old creations, sum up the emotions, colours and amazing experiences of being at the seaside. Whether you are keen swimmer, a sailer, a sun lover, a beachcomber, a fisher, a holiday maker, the seaside is the ultimate destination.

Biografía
Ann Dunbar
Ann Dunbar, originally from England, was born in Faberstown, Hampshire, in 1953. She currently resides and works as an accomplished painter in France.With three decades of artistic experience and aesthetic exploration, Ann has honed her skills in the delicate art of watercolor, seamlessly blending the rich tradition of English embroidery onto paper canvases.Her unique approach involves layering fine threads of cotton and silk alongside paint, imbuing her artworks with an added dimension, creating a captivating interplay of colorful reflections that dance with changing light and the viewer's gaze.
Experience and Achievements
Ann's journey through the world of art began with a degree in Education from the University of Southbank in London in 1975. She pursued her passion further, graduating with honors from the School of Fine Arts at Surrey. Her dedication to the arts extended into the realm of education. She served as a professor of applied arts in England for an impressive 16 years.Notably, Ann Dunbar has been recognized and included in the prestigious Larousse directory of artist ratings since 2005. Her professional artistic journey continues to flourish in France, marked by numerous publications and official accolades.
Among her recent achievements, she was awarded the Vermeil Medal by the Academy of Arts, Sciences, and Letters in Paris in 2022. In 2016, her exceptional work earned her the Gold Medal at the International Artcomexpo.com exhibition in Oslo, Norway. Ann's masterpieces can be admired at several esteemed galleries across the globe, including the Shoalhaven Gallery in New South Wales, Australia, G&C Agent, United Kingdom, and China. Her unique fusion of watercolors and embroidery continues to captivate art enthusiasts worldwide, leaving an indelible mark on the world of contemporary art

International artist Ann Dunbar, originally from UK, lives and works in France, celebrates her 25 years with a solo exhibition.
This solo exhibition of Ann Dunbar's unique artwork whereby she allies watercolour with the richness of embroidery. Compositions of flowers and wild landscapes.

Art never stops
Spring in full flow. 15X15cm Just a note to let you know that all is well in my studio. There are some exciting things happening , my artwork will be promoted and published on various international art platforms.
I am taking part in an international exhibition featured online called "Infinite Dreams", organised by Art Curator Magazine. It will be online from 3rd February until 1st June 2021. contemporaryartcuratormagazine.com My new work, beached combed 1 (below ) and 2 will be featured., along with other three recent works inspired by rockpools.

I am working at a steady pace, with creating some new bigger works to enlarge my luxurious rockpool collection, with the intention of exhibiting them in 2022., and as a spin off, I have interesting ideas to produce semi abstracts based on my textural observations of walls and stone surfaces. These will have fantastic effects as I will be mixing metallic acrylics to water colour. By 1st March, these should be ready for release on my web page shop.

From 1st April, I will start on another series with Spring in the air. These will be smaller pieces on promotion and available to my followers in mid- May, the theme " birds, butterflies and blooms".

Expo solo of Ann's recent work, celebrating her 23 years in France. She will present alongside some bigger works, new small works 23x30cm with her favourite views and places in France. wild prairies, gardens and flower presentations which exudes her emotive feeling with the character of French culture and its flamboyant, romantic and charming influence on her unique work.

Dear friends and fans , I am ready for some amazing art projects in 2019. What a buzz!!!- the year starts with a bang and my art is showcased in a luxury magazine published this January in the UK.
It is magic working with threads, they take on a new perspective when worked in any fashion, but with embroidering, some extra special is happening! Not only are we creating something beautiful made by hand from imagination, but we are also participating in historic traditions tens of thousands of years old. You are not only creating art for your soul and for your future generations, you are embodying the work of our ancestors.. How humbling it is to learn that an embroidered artwork is made with love, passion, patience and persistence and the final result will be for an enduring and eternal pleasure to keep hold on for future generations too. Look at this article which appears in the double issue "The Art of Design and The Art of Luxury" magazine which describes why I think embroidery empowers and adds value to my water colours - its my "why" and "what for", as well as "where" I look for inspiration. These thoughts keep me working and feeling appreciative,even with all the effort involved. Its worthwhile.

Start a new leaf.
A new year, new fresh ideas and resolutions all amounts to starting a new "leaf". My first creation 2017, "Leaf Mandala" 20x20cm embroidery on hologrammic paper, which embodies meaning of energy, growth, hope, journeys, reflection and symmetry in harmony, are points which will guide us to do the best we can, whatever we want and need, it is all down to each and every individual.
We are modelled by are thoughts: we become what we think. As an artist, thoughts and images are imagined in our minds, emerging from the subconscious just like the feelings in our hearts reach the surface, we produce our artwork, our internal vision, our quest for inspiration and direction with colour, form, texture and shape, we create like going through mystical journey, not knowing where it is taking us. What will be the result? The life as an artist is like a quest, a constant search of personal expression, a personal response to what we have seen,experienced, what we have dreamt,books we have read, places we have seen, people we have met. Wow what a combination, what a responsibility, what an amazing life we have with its up and downs, like the flow of the tides, the waxing and waning of the moon, the phases of time and the whole movement in the cosmos. All this makes you feel humbled and privileged.
A fresh new leaf of life where time is to be spent as you want and then leads you to where you have to be and go. Artists we can be our own guide, our own self, our own being, we are unique and we all have our place here to offer joy, peace, hope and glory through our art. Art is LIFE.

Working with mixed media
For a long while I having been using exclusively water colour as the main medium for the background to ally with embroidery. Now I have incorporated other media to my embroidery with exciting effects. A good example of this is laying an area on the paper with gold leaf which is subsequently washed over with a strong coloured ink and then varnished before a motif is embroidered in metal thread on top. I have produced a series of this magical combination which was as a result of an inspirational visit to the ancient temples in Laos and Cambodia.
Another use of media media with embroidery on paper I have recently used successfully is to apply acrylic paint as a print or base for the purpose of a resist so that when a weak colour of water colour is laid over, the acrylic painted area shows through. I love using interference medium with water colour or ink to achieve more unusual opalescent surfaces and other optical colour effets are possible. Oceans of Oz Exhibition- for one week only
The upcoming event taking place at Galerie Art'& Miss, 14 rue Sainte Anastase, Paris 75003,, opens on 1st December. I am very excited as this project is a collaboration with another award winning artist from Australia: Olivia Alexander. It has taken a year to prepare the exquisite works to grace the walls of this charming gallery, only a few metres away from musée Picasso.
We are going to make the gallery come alive with our different expressions in the use of mixed media, inspired by the beautiful coastlines of Australia. After having spent some time in NSW and SW of Sydney, I can assure you that they are the most natural, well preserved coastlines I have ever seen. The crystal azure water and erosive marks sculpted on the rocky shores are stunning. I was particulaly attracted to the rockpools and the variety of shells.
I met Olivia three years ago,through an Italian curator we work with because she loved to exhibit in France, I suggested to join various salons and then the idea of working on a theme close to our hearts came to surface. Olivia, like myself, is inspired by the natural wildness of landscape, untouched by man.She does not paint realism but rather an expression of what she sees and feels whilst observing the scene. The extensive variety of formes,textures, pattern,colours and rhythms, all play a role in stimulating her technique of layering experimental mixed media.My work, however, is more classical and romantic in manner and the embroidery expresses the movement, relief and textures in my compositions. Our work combines together in a well suited and unified way by the unusual effects obtained with our materials.
We have various publications from international magazines (see enclosed with this blog)
Our work in this exhibition ties up with the issues of the fragile envoronment we live in: rising sea levels, global warming, pollution etc, hot topics which hit Paris this moment with the COP21 debate. We wish to raise awareness of the fragility and beauty of our marine world.
During the week, we have many exciting artistic and cultural events.
