About this artwork: This painting is one the carved wood series. It tries to convey the artist’s sense of the structure of political relationships in this world. At the bottom of the heap are those who are caught up in the struggles between nations, communities and religious groups. People are shouting, arguing, blaming and killing one another. They experience a lot of anger, pain and loss. In the middle are those who stand back, look on and say they are upset, but don’t really get involved. At the top are those who create these conditions; they are happy because they have the power and they succeed in achieving what they want, regardless of the cost to others.
