About this artwork: This painting is one of the Endless Expression Series. The artist uses his whirling technique to depict two old women, each with her own fixed stance on life. It conveys the idea that people’s life experiences can result in opposing views that permanently close their minds to new ideas or alternative ways of seeing the world. The artist created this new style of oil painting by adapting the forms of traditional Turkish marbling, which is a water based technique to imprint designs onto paper. The result generates a similar visual effect to marbling although the technique is entirely different.
