MAYA NAGY

Daughter of Prof. Zoltan Nagy, professor of art history, and Maria Kovacs, sculptress, she was born in Budapest (Hungary).
He attended the Classical Gymnasium and the Free Art School of goldsmithing and weaving and worked at the State Center for Decorative Art in Budapest. After moving to Italy, she graduated, in 1975, in furniture and architecture, at the State Art Institute of Macerata and, in 1979, under the guidance of Remo Brindisi and Raul Batocco, she obtained a diploma in the faculty of painting. of the Academy of Fine Arts of Macerata. Since 1985, as a teacher of painting, he has taught at the BB.AA. of Macerata, Carrara, Venice, Reggio Calabria and Bari. He currently holds a professorship for teaching painting at the BB.AA. from Venice.

Lives and works in Pollenza (MC), Macerata and Budapest.
ARTISTIC ACTIVITY
After having participated in numerous personal and collective exhibitions, both in Italy and in Hungary, deepening the expressive themes through the weaving of tapestries, since 1983, he has focused his attention and his artistic interests on sacred painting. Between 1983 and 1993, he made several paintings depicting "the Madonna with the Child" and n. 7 altarpieces (oil on canvas, 190 x 140 cm) for the Franciscan Community of the Marches: Ñ "The Crucifixion" (1983), "The Last Supper" (1984) and "The Nativity" (1986), for the Monastery of S. Chiara of Sassoferrato; Ñ “San Michele arcangelo” (1984/85), “San Francesco praying” and the “Altarpiece for united Europe” (1984/85), for the church and monastery of San Giovanni in Arcevia; Ñ “The crucifixion” (1987/88), for the Franciscan community. He illustrated, with 10 drawings, the volume “Biblical novels” by B. Bartolini, Tip. Gentile, Fabriano, 1985 and, in the same year, he illustrated, for the magazine "Szivarvany", the monograph "Poetry suffocated" by Moszi Ferenc, published by Framo Publishing & Lira Books, Chicago (USA), 1985. In 1986 he created the scenography for the Madach Theater in Budapest

In 1989/90 he performed the mural “Young people and peace” (500 x 410 cm) for the Oratorio San Filippo Neri, in the Lanzi Theater in Corridonia.
In 1991 he organized, for the “GB Salvi” Award in Sassoferrato, the room “Peace against war”. In August 1992 he participated in the "Artistic Camp" organized by the "National Association of Artists" of the Hargita Region - Section of Georgeni - Gyergyoszarhegy (Romania), at the Franciscan monastery of Lazarea Castle. In 1993/94, in collaboration with the students of the BB.AA. of Macerata, he painted, with various subjects, n. 7 doors (2 x 1 m) and a mural depicting a Marche landscape (3 x 2 m), in the Renault Dealership in Sforzacosta - Macerata.
