Memory Webb a geniune Mississippian. She is a self-taught artist of Acrylic and Watercolor. She paints on canvas. Her interest in painting is her beloved south and Mississippi. She calls her work Southern Folkart.
Her artwork display will consist of Acrylic and watercolor prints and Sketches of Celebrity's .
Area artist to showcase work at Great Southern National Bank
Meridian native Memory Webb began painting for the first time in late August, 2005. And began professionally in 2007. Her love for drawing and art began at an early age, but she has just recently decided to share that love with the public.
Between finding the time to paint and preparing displays, Webb hardly has anytime left to travel to many shows but Webb recently traveled and participated in “Come Home to Stonewall”. Webb says, “now that she has participated in a festival she knows what to expect; therefore, this experience will lead her to a better display for future festivals; to which, she hopes to participate throughout the south.”
As a native Mississippian, Webb’s paintings reflect that of how she was raised. The scenic paintings of the south and its culture has inspired her the most. Included in her subject matter are old houses and barns, churches, lighthouses, cottonfields, antiques shops, local buildings, dogwoods and magnolias, swamps, animals and folk art of Mississippi. Recently, Webb has added portrait sketching and sketching of celebrities to her portfolio.
Webb has her paintings displayed in the Lauderdale County Public Library, Lauderdale County Welcome Center in Toomsuba ,Ms, and a very prominent businessmans Office, just to name a few locations you can find her artwork. She will continue to showcase her talent to the area with a show at Great Southern National Bank this Friday November 9th, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Webb will be available to meet the public and interested art seekers and her paintings will be available to view and purchase.
Webb’s philosophy is simple. The self-taught artist believes that life is to short and time is to precious and lives each day to the fullest. “Live every day to its fullest and don’t take everything so seriously,” Webb said, “Nobody is getting out of this world alive so stop and smell the roses because the roses may not be there tomorrow. You only go through life once so make the best of the time you have here on earth.
Webb’s technique can be described as being a little different and unique when she attempts to capture the south in her paintings. Ideas for her paintings have stemmed from family photos, talks with elders, travel and her imagination.
A mixed-media painter, Webb uses acrylic and watercolors. Many of her paintings are landscapes and reveal bright colors with a touch of character. While the artist claims to be developing her own personal style, Webb proclaimed that her work would most likely be described as Southern folk Art.
Interested patrons can view Webb’s work at Great Southern National Bank on Friday or visit her virtual art gallery online at .
While you are browsing her site ; Please, sign her guestbook!
Webb also states, she is looking for a building in Clarke County for an art gallery to display her work among many more artists . If you have a building or know of a building, contact her through her website.

Mississippi artist’s work featured
Memory Webb’s painting of Webb’s General Store will be a featured prize in a drawing to help raise money for the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi. Webb is a native and life long resident of Mississippi.
She attended school to become a paralegal but her love for the art has always been present. Since August of 2005, Webb has been capturing scenes from her beloved Mississippi using watercolors and acrylics.
She credits her parents for instilling in her the courage and faith to pursue her dream of being an artist. She hopes that this attitude will enable her to continue capturing Mississippi life using other mediums such as oils.
Although her paintings are typically categorized as Southern folk art, Webb is quick to point out that her artwork is just a little different than most Southern folk art.
She uses family photos, conversations with the elderly about yesteryear, travel and scenes from around Mississippi to inspire her creations.
Webb uses bright colors to emphasize the scene she is painting and in many of her landscapes her signature trees with a hole at the base of the trunk will make an appearance.
With the abundance of natural beauty Webb has found throughout the South, she does not have trouble finding the subject of her next painting, it is the time to complete the projects that is often hard to come by. Examples of Webb’s art can be found online at .

A TRUE SOUTHERN ARTIST
MISSISSIPPI ANTIQUES
Volume 4 Number 7 SEPTEMBER 2007 page 13
Memory Webb is a native and life long resident of Mississippi. Although, trained as a paralegal, it is painting that has caught her fancy. Webb has been painting since late August 2005. She has enjoyed art and drawing at an early age and her dream is to see her paintings in museums and galleries across the U.S.
Webb's paintings have been exhibited in the local library in Meridian and can also be seen in other display areas of Mississippi. Memory's artwork is a little different from other artists. She is slowly creating her own style, but if she had to place her work in any category it would be southern folk art.
Being from the south, the lovely scenery of the south and its culture has inspired her to paint the subjects she enoys most. Her southern folk art compositions reflect the heritage and hardships of the great people living around her. She spends most of her time talking to older people and learning the way life was in the south years ago.
Memory Webb has always believed that life is too short and time too precious to take everything so seriously. She says that," You only go through this life once, so make the best of the time you have here on earth."
Memory's technique is aimed at being a little different and unique in capturing her beloved south and whatever subjects she decides are interesting to paint. Often, after gathering supplies and arranging her easel, she lets her imagination and paint lead her; turning out a different painting than she originally intended. She paints with acrylic and watercolor and uses lively, bright color in her skies, water and grass. To add character and her own signature to many of her paintings, she adds trees with a hole at the base of the trunk or an old worn down fence.
Picking a subject is not hard here in the beautiful south. It is no secret to anyone with brushes, pens, pencils and paint to find great subjects. So, for Memory Webb, there is no trouble picking subjects to paint, it's just finding the time to paint them all.
