Frets Verhees

I have been a sculptor for twenty years. I started my statues at the Ile du Levant where I had the hotel "Le Ponant". I am a sculptor in direct carving on marble, stone and especially cellular concrete. This material, often despised has a considerable advantage, it weighs four times less than stone which considerably facilitates transport. I like to make large pieces (from one to two meters) and in stone it is almost impossible to move them. .
For a sculptor, what is important is to come out with a shape, regardless of the material; From the original it is then possible to duplicate it in marble, make a mold to cast a resin or a bronze ...
I sold a lot of prints of my statues on the Ile du Levant, exhibited in Hyères, Marseille, Geneva, Turin. I took a seven-year pose because when I arrived in Corsica I renovated and built what left me little time for art. For two months I started again hoping to make large pieces for the garden, swimming pool. .
