CLAUDE SIVIGNON

Claude SIVIGNON voit le jour en 1956 à Charlieu, dans la Loire. Il est issu d’une famille d’artistes peintres et musiciens, tant du côté paternel que maternel.
Toute son enfance baigne dans la musique romantique du XIXème et la peinture des grands maîtres flamands.
Très jeune, son père lui enseigne la peinture, et lui fait connaître tous les « Grands » : Rembrandt, Van Eyck, Bosch, Brugel…en passant bien sûr par Picasso et Dali ! …
Sa première période, entre 1970 à 1985, est marquée par des œuvres sombres et torturées.
De plus en plus attiré par les jeux de lumière, il exprime ses rêves et ses émotions à travers ceux-ci : clairs obscurs, transparences et trompe-l’œil marquent sa deuxième période. Il mêle pendant cette période hyperréalisme et surréalisme, parfois au sein d’un même tableau.
C’est sa période flamande, de 1985 à 2001.
Toujours fasciné par la lumière, il trouve de nouvelles matières qui lui permettent de mettre encore plus celle-ci en valeur, de la faire chatoyer et d’illuminer ses toiles. Ainsi ses peintures se transforment au gré de l’éclairage.
Dans le même temps, convaincu que rien n’est plus beau que le corps d’une femme, son thème se recentre autour des portraits de femmes.
C’est sa période actuelle...


Claude SIVIGNON was born in 1956 in Charlieu, in Loire. He comes from, both his paternal and maternal family, a long line of painters et musicians. He spent his childhood in the world of romantic music of the 19th century and the painting of the Flemish Masters.
Very young, his father taught him painting, and he discovered the "big one’s" : Rembrandt, Van Eyck, Bosch, Brugel...as well as Picasso and Dali of course !
His first period, between 1970 to 1985, was focused on dark and tortured works of art.
Attracted more and more by play of light, it expressed his dreams and his emotions through obscure light, transparencies and “trompe-l’œil”. It is his second period. He mixed during this period hyperrealism and surrealism, sometimes within the same painting.
It is his Flemish period, of 1985 to 2001.
Always fascinated by the light, he find new materials to emphasize this one or to make it shimmer and to illuminate his paintings.
Thus his paintings change with the liking of lighting.
In the same time, convinced that nothing is more beautiful than the body of a woman, his topic is focused on the portraits of women.
It is his current period...
