I look at art in the making as the fleshy product of human experience. For me an image or object of art seeks not to explain what the meaning of the experience is; rather the image manifests the act itself to provoke an interpretation. I approach art out of sheer visual joy and a renewed intellectual passion which nurtures my spirit and its link to the medium. My work is the vehicle through which I convey a psychological essence in my quest for the sublime. Just as the physical world is oblivious to causality, my aesthetic frame embraces multiple dimensions with the image as its residue.
My vision has evolved by retracing the steps back to Cezanne and beyond, to the masters of classical times from the perspective of abstract expressionism; assimilating my own Latin American, indigenous intuition over a multicultural world. As a strong believer in the role of the author, I currently hold my own ground in a perennially emerging approach by abjuring the commercial orthodoxy of the art market of today, and steadfast in my conviction that what defines me as an artist is absolute freedom: not a machine-like, signatory style but the ability to achieve all sorts of images and thoughts at random. I am currently showing the work done in the year 2003-04:.The watercolor series is inspired by 15th century Persian miniatures after Mangu Khan which I translate into the abstract confluence of rhythmic moving planes that evoke a phenomenological approach to painting. I have also completed this year a series of digital 3D images, entitled “Auto-Da-Fé, Ascension and Decantation” printed on large canvases. This series makes reference to a medieval vocabulary, notable as the lynching of heretics during the Inquisition and paralleled to the castigation of the weak in today’s society. I am pursuing this last series as variants on a self portrait to identify a metaphor on transmutations of the ego.
More recently, I have embarked on an exhibit proposal as it is shown here
