• Biography
• Biograph: I was born 1953 near Vienna, Austria.
I attended graphics and applied art courses at the Vienna Art School 1976/77, and have worked as a freelance artist/artisan ever since.
1978 I established a jewelry design and manufacturing studio in Vienna. I joined the Austrian association of independent artists and artisans, and took part in numerous shows and group exhibitions in Austria and Italy.
1986 immigration to New Zealand and in 1989 settling down in Kuaotunu.
From 1996 to 2001 I spent always one half of the year in New Zealand and 6 months in Europe.
My main focus switched to larger sculptural work, mainly produced and marketed in Europe.
I started using everyday items like cutlery turning it into absurd objects.
1996/07 various exhibitions in Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic.
I have always experimented with a wide range of media such as video, photography and computer graphics. These techniques inform my recent paintings.
In the tradition of the rural New Zealand painter, striking natural landscapes dominate the imagery, but in this case, they deny the viewer the expected sense of serenity.
In a kind of bizarre realism, the romanticism of a sunset is disrupted by a car dashboard or airplane imposing in from the edges of the frame, revealing hints of a more complicated narrative. [..] >> Read More |
