• Biography
• A self taught Artist, Dianne currently resides at Doubtless Bay in the Far North of New Zealand’s
North Island. A New Zealander of Maori and Celtic descent,
her love affair with art began as a preschooler when she scribbled and drew mostly
non-figurative abstracts with brilliantly colored crayons on every piece of blank
paper she could acquire.
Growing up on her parents beef and sheep farm, where she got to ride horses much
of the time, fostered an early interest in animals which feature in much of her
artwork today.
A long time fan of German expressionist Franz Marc (1880-1916), Dianne is
often inspired by his prolific collection of colorful animal and abstract paintings.
Dianne’s preferred medium to paint with is oils, which she began using in her early teens.
In more recent years she began experimenting with Acrylics which she finds suit her more jazzed up, spontaneous pieces.
Whatever the subject, her aim is to capture a feeling of free flowing energy
